Influence of Surface Modifications on the Adsorption and Absorption of Tritium into Stainless-Steel

چکیده

LLE Review, Volume 147 150 Introduction High concentrations of tritium develop on stainless-steel (SS) surfaces exposed to a tritium atmosphere.1 These high concentrations are attributed to tritium dissolution within the adsorbed water layers present on all metal surfaces.1–4 Tritium dissolved within these layers contributes $20% to the total inventory absorbed by SS.1 Additionally, these water layers govern the migration of the isotope during an exposure to a tritium atmosphere, as well as during a storage period following the exposure. Because such a large fraction of the tritium inventory resides in the water layers, altering these layers by altering the metal surface can significantly affect the total quantity of tritium absorbed by SS.

Electrochemical and Theoretical Studies of Adsorption of 1-H-benzotriazole at Stainless Steel in Hydrochloric acid Solution Interface as Corrosion Inhibitors

The influence of the concentration of1-H-benzoteriazolon the corrosion of 316 stainless steel (SS) in chloride acid 1M solutions was studied. The potentiodynamics polarization and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) have been used. The inhibition efficiency increased with an increase in the concentration of1-H-benzoteriazol.The adsorption of1-H-benzoteriazol onto the SS surface occurs accord...

The Influence of Surface Potential on the Kinetics of Bovine Serum Albumin Adsorption on a Biomedical Grade 316LVM Stainless Steel Surface

Polarization modulation infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (PM-IRRAS) in combination with electrochemistry, was employed to study the influence of surface charge (potential) on the kinetics of bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption on a biomedical-grade 316LVM stainless steel surface is discussed. The BSA adsorption kinetics was found to greatly depend on the surface potential. With an ...

ELECTROCHEMICAL INVESTIGATION OF INHIBITORY OF NEW SYNTHESIZED TETRAZOLE DERIVATIVE ON CORROSION OF STAINLESS STEEL 316L IN ACIDIC MEDIUM

In this study, an  organic compound  inhibitor, namely N-benzyl-N-(4-chlorophenyl)-1H-tetrazole-5-amine (NBTA), was synthesized and the role of this inhibitor for corrosion protection of stainless steel (SS) exposed to 0.5 M H2SO4 was investigated using electrochemical, and quantum analysis. By taking advantage of potentiodynamic polarization, the inhibitory action of NBTA was found t...

INFLUENCE OF SURFACE NANO/ULTRAFINE STRUCTURE ACHIEVED BY DEEP ROLLING PROCESS ON PLASMA NITRIDING AND TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE AISI 316L STAINLESS STEEL

Influence of formation of surface nano/ultrafine structure using deep rolling on plasma nitriding and tribological properties of the AISI 316L stainless steel was investigated. Initially, the deep rolling process was carried out on the bar-shaped specimens at 15 cycles with 0.2 mm/s longitudinal rate and 22.4 rpm bar rotation. Then, plasma nitriding treatment was applied on the as-received...

Comparison of Two Kinds of Functionally Graded Cylindrical Shells with Various Volume Fraction Laws for Vibration Analysis

In this paper, a study on the vibration of thin cylindrical shells made of a functionally gradient material (FGM) composed of stainless steel and nickel is presented. The effects of the FGM configuration are taken into account by studying the frequencies of two FG cylindrical shells. Type I FG cylindrical shell has nickel on its inner surface and stainless steel on its outer surface and Type II...
